Wonderful Day Off

I had the most wonderful day off today. Starting by sleeping in. Then got up had lunch with a friend and had a great visit. Then a few errand and off to my daughter Amy's
She and I made a couple of lasagnas then a banana cream pie and a chocolate pie along with 6 mini chocolate pies. It was great working together, visiting and getting something done so we didn't have to feel guilty for playing.
We have decided we will be doing this on a bi-monthly or monthly basis.....

Great Giveaway by Melissa!

Plea for help from fellow quilters.

Girls I have a favor to ask..... I have a friend that is wanting to do a special project and is in need of the ribbon (MODA type) that is similar to shoestring type material, that companies use to tie bundles together. If you have any that you would part with please leave me a message and I will get back to you.
Thanks.

Charm Squares and Cleaning Sewing Room

This afternoon I went and bought a few new storage containers and started on my sewing room, AGAIN!
As I was going through my fabrics ( the smaller cuts ) I pressed and cut charm squares that I'm needing for 2 of my quilt guilds. I was cutting for 2 because I'm cutting for a friend also.... I have a schedule for both for the rest of the year so I have a basket and made baggies for each month and as I run across a fitting fabric I cut and put it in the proper place. I wish I was this organized with everything else in my life.
Both guilds are having Pat Speth classes but over 6 months apart. I'm only taking classes at one of them though. So some of the charms are for that and the others are for a couple of charm square projects the other guild will be doing this year.
Well now I'm going to relax and read some blogs before calling it a night.
Good night all!

Happy 2012

Our new year started off by celebrating Christmas with our kids, grandkids and a few special friends on New Year's Eve.We had a wonderful dinner and opened presents before the next set of friends stopped by to celebrate the Old Year/New Year with us.
Of course that meant more and more food, games and a beverage or two. The little ones all managed to stay up to watch the ball drop so we could go outside and share the celebration with the neighborhood. A few little ones stayed overnite but crashed quite quickly after midnight.
New Year's Day was just cleaning up from the night before (actually not too bad at all) and then relaxing.
I must admit that I haven't spent much time in the sewing room since ringing in the new year. I have been  doing some handwork (knitting, counted cross and embroidery) which I have really enjoyed. I have also been working on some jigsaw puzzles which I also have really enjoyed doing.
Today I was invited over by a dear friend to sew. I worked on a 2011 mystery quilt. I got quite a bit done on it. Another good sewing day and it should be ready for the quilting.
She had some wonderful surprises for me when I got there. She's been cleaning out her sewing room and had lots of goodies for me. I received some wonderful flannels and a few apron panels just to name a few. So now I need to go make room for all of it and maybe pass on some of my "will never use" stuff to another friend.
Thank you all who have stuck around waiting for me to stick my head out and get back to the blogging.
I wish all of you a wonderful 2012!

Where did 2011 go?

Well this past year or I should say the last half of the last year was not very productive for me.
I had so many things I wanted to accomplish but they did not come to pass....
But instead of dwelling on what I did not acheive, I plan on just moving on.
One of the things I had on my list was to do a better job at keeping my blog....... my last entry was like Sept ??. Wow was I shocked!
So I'm letting go of 2011 and saying Hello to 2012. No new promises except to enjoy the year, do what I can and don't sweat the stuff that does not come to pass.
