Progress made at quilt retreat.

I had a wonderful time at one of my quilt guild quilt retreats. I really enjoyed this one because my friend and I organize and run them for the guild. We usually go all out once a year and make it an event to remember with games, door prizes and that sort of thing. After our spring retreat the girls begged us to do another in the fall. We agreed if they didn't mind us just getting the arrangements, collecting fees and a few other small things. They all agreed so we had it last weekend. It was wonderful to spend the weekend with a great group of women.
This is what I worked on.

The wall quilt is almost twin size. Much prettier in person the picture does not show off the fabric well. It was a new project and one I really enjoyed doing.
The Turkey wall hanging is quilted and just needs eyes and binding. This was a UFO which I will have finished by the weekend.
I also did a little (very little) work on another UFO, will show it when I get a little more done.
I have a mystery retreat this weekend that I'm going to. It should be lots of fun also.
I hope I manage to stay motivated, I really need to.

When God closes a door!

I firmly believe the saying
When God Closes A Door
He Opens A Window.
This week I will have to put my trust in this saying more than I have in a long long time.
I lost my job this past Friday.
I do have faith that something better will come along.
Please say a few prayers for me that I find the direction to go toward that open window.

Prayers needed for 3-month old neighbor

I would like to ask everyone to please pray for my 3-month old neighbor boy. He was born with downs syndrome and had a major heart defect. He was missing some of the walls in the chambers of his heart. He had his first surgery today with complications. First there was a bleed where there was a hole where the repair was not quite caught, then when they went to repair that they poked a hole in the back side of his heart, after that they went to take him off by-pass as due to the length of time he was in surgery and the extent of the problems his heart would not beat on it's own (left ventricle would not work) they put him on temp by-pass for up to 72 hrs, Then this evening he developed another bleed and they had to go back in and do more repair. He is in VERY CRITICAL condition. Please say a pray or prayers for Keegan and his family. I have his bigger sister who is 4 and she also is having a hard time with him and her mom and dad gone. This family can use every prayer that can be sent up for them.
Thank you.

The Mistake was in the pattern.

Well after I took the quilt apart and re-organized everything (thinking I had miss marked something) and sewing it back together guess what SAME PROBLEM! Went over the pattern with a fine tooth comb and marked the lay out with a number/letter system for each piece.... The pattern was wrong.
I took apart just a couple of sections of the quilt top ( I was NOT taking the whole thing apart again) and fixed it. That's not the way I like to do things BUT!
Well I have everything done now except the last border.... I can't wait for it to be done.
The worst thing is this quilt is the 1st project I am making for a local quilt shop as a shop model and wanted my best work to show. I did let them know about the pattern error and that I hope it meets with their standards. I think sometimes it shows when a quilt has been ripped and resewed and ripped and resewed. I did feel better when they told me another quilter who was doing another shop model for them had the same problem.... SAME PATTERN COMPANY but different pattern.
I will try to take a picture and post.

Rip It, Rip It, Rip It

I have spent several hours unsewing about 2/3s of a quilt. Not at all how I wanted to spend my night. And I was soooo proud of how the quilt was coming together. THEN I find I don't have the block sets I need but have several block sets in the wrong color way avail. Not sure where I got off track. BUT I now have every little tiny thing marked and have the pattern grid also marked so I hope I don't go crazy again. I will post photo when I have the top done.

To Honor My Mother

I always said I would never get a tattoo......
But my daughters and I decided we would get a
Lily for Lillie (my Mom)
to honor her on her birthday which was yesterday.
This is mine. It does look much better now that
the redness is all gone.
I'm sure she was looking down and laughing her
you know what off.
Happy Birthday Mom
Love and Miss You
